(Remote) Wetland Scientist
Our client is seeking a Part-time (REMOTE) Wetland Scientist to provide technical leadership and direction in performing wetlands identification and delineation studies on the East Coast. The successful candidate will also support other nationwide efforts.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Lead teams on wetland delineation & natural resource field studies.
• Complete environmental permitting (USACE 404, state wetlands, 401 WQ, Coastal Zone) for a variety of private and public projects.
• Complete threatened and endangered species surveys; wetlands vegetation assessments; rapid value assessments; native plant identification; and invasive species identification.
• Ensure technical quality and safety in all aspects of job performance.
• Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATION (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in biology, botany, environmental studies, fisheries, soil science, wildlife, agriculture, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of related experience & training.
• Prior experience with wetlands delineation & identification.
• Society of Wetlands Scientists’ WPIT or PWS preferred.
• County/City wetland rating systems (where appropriate).
• Excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills.
• Writing Sample required.
• Knowledge and skills in use of GIS/GPS technologies.
• Project-related travel and the ability to work 10 to 12-hour days in the field are required.
