Certified Industrial Hygienist
Our Client is seeking to place a (Remote) Certified Industrial Hygienist to join their Technical Team to support Environmental & Geotechnical Projects for Federal Clients in Baton Rouge, LA.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Serves as the Client's Corporate Health and Safety Manager.
• Maintains an updated, federally compliant, corporate health and safety program and program manual.
• Interprets and communicates compliance standards for all Federal, state, and local agencies, specific to the environmental, engineering, and construction consulting business areas.
• Prepares USACE compliant plans APPs/SSHPs/AHAs.
• Participates in proposal writing process.
• Designs, manages, and conducts industrial hygiene field studies related to worker exposures, including, but not limited to, air and noise sampling, asbestos inspections, construction site inspections, identification of safety deficiencies, initiating meaningful corrective actions, and enforcement of safety and health requirements for construction contractors and subcontractors.
• Provides company-wide peer review for all health and safety related documentation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• At minimum, 5-10 years of experience in industrial hygiene and/or health and safety supporting the environmental, engineering, and construction consulting business areas.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience preparing U.S. Army Corp of Engineers EM-385-1-1 Accident Prevention Plan (APP)/Site Specific Health and Safety Plan (SSHP) development and execution, including the preparation of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) forms.
• The CIH will have a bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences.
• Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (A copy of the certification must be submitted).
• The CIH is required to be in good standing with the American Board of Hygiene and current on all certification requirements.
• Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in the compilation of technical findings presented and in determining the acceptability of plans and specifications as related to environmental investigations and toxic and hazardous waste projects.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with U.S. Army Corp of Engineers EM-385-1-1 Accident Prevention Plan (APP)/Site Specific Health and Safety Plan (SSHP) development and execution, including the preparation of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) forms.
• Current HAZWOPER 40-hour training/8-hour refresher; ability to pass HazMat physical.
• Must be able to balance multiple concurrent projects simultaneously.
• Must possess the ability to change directions quickly.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Microsoft PC applications; WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness/ability to travel.
